Updates - Day 86

Our attic and garage ceiling insulation was blown today and the drywall finishers  taped and mudded seams. We met with our Field Manager and he updated us with our timeline. Our projected date was December 20th. Our actual date is now January 10th.

We scheduled the fireplace install for Monday after quite an ordeal with our installer. We are waiting for our stone until after the final paint.

Drywall is supposed to take a week. Our columns and dining room header will be fixed. The broken bathroom window will be replaced, and the in-wall dryer vent installed.

Next week, our excavator will be trenching the waterline in freakishly cold temperatures. The shakes & siding will be finished; They are three weeks behind. Friday, we are supposed to be primed and the following week will be our final paint.

The following week, cabinets & counters will be installed.

On the 30th, the plumber will hook up all of our fixtures and lines.

After the new year, they will install flooring and will do touch-ups. We are supposed to get the keys January 10th. That's sad, but oh well. We still love our house!

Drywall & Field Manager Meeting - Day 86

We have to turn on the propane heat in the house today to prepare for the drywall finishers to get busy. :)
I forgot to mention this lovely got delivered the week of Thanksgiving. It is a temporary propane tank to heat during drywall. Let me tell you... Our boys loved seeing this get delivered and filled up! It was funny to see their excitement.

At 4:00 today we are supposed to meet with our FM to discuss our dining room columns and walk through the house.

Wayne Homes is flying. We are getting so close to the end and we are very thankful! We put up our last Christmas tree in our current home and are looking forward to a lifetime of memories in our Wayne Home.

Beautiful stone & fireplace "fumes" - Day 85

They finished the stone wainscot on the porch today and it is breathtaking!
One of hubby's biggest requests was stone, and he got his wish. This was one of the main selling features of the Craftsman elevation for him.

Our evening consisted of some explosive phone calls with our NON WAYNE HOMES fireplace installer and distributor, who has now stood us up twice on our install and argued that we weren't on the calendar until dec 17th for install. That is just bogus, and my husband was fuming as bad as I was ... if not worse because he was up working on the FP until 10 pm to get everything ready for the installer who is from Celina. After several phone calls with our distributor, Kerns Fireplace out of Lima, the store that sold us our unit did some digging and cross-checked our story. This led to multiple apologies and our fireplace is now scheduled to be installed Monday. All of this after our installer again "had no clue how this could happen" and was "sorry for the misunderstanding" AGAIN. I am pretty sure I will be finding another place to hang my hat if it isn't installed Monday, because my husband was so mad last night he was drafting a letter to the Better Business Bureau. Oh the joys....   :)

Update & Fireplace - Day 85

Yesterday, the only thing they worked on was the stone wainscot. They still have a column to fix, but it looks so good we can't believe this is our home! We were sad they didn't start finishing the drywall...but oh well!

Also yesterday, we had a short convo with our site foreman. He will be looking at the columns in the dining room, as well as the weird header. This will be interesting but needs to be fixed...

Last night, my hubby stayed up until 10:00 insulating and dry walling the fireplace to make sure it was done before the FP installer got here this morning. This was hands-down the most stressful part of our "customizations" - it has been a headache. Hubby removed the wet insulation, re-insulated, drywalled, and installed the start of our mantle. We were under the impression WH framers were installing a temporary cap on our chimney per a phone call with our field manager when they built the fireplace, but this didn't happen.... So we had to redo it. We are ready to put this behind us!

Hopefully we will have some good pictures to share with you tonight after work. :)

Details - Day 84

Our progress has been amazing. Just not perfect, which we would not expect anyway. We noticed some odd things yesterday we will be addressing with our site foreman tomorrow.
What is this? The rest of the dining room header is the same... Until this weird spot that sticks out like a sore thumb. This is an easy fix.
This is the photo our home consultant attached to our plans and had us sign. The columns stick out a little bit. I will need to take a photo of our columns as they sit now, but they are flush with the angled wall and will need to be fixed for the crown molding to be placed at the top. Not the biggest deal, but we don't want any delays!

Hopefully drywallers will start finishing today, the stone will be done, and our attic / garage insulation will be blown. That's a lot for one day.

We are getting ready to schedule our garage door opener installation and it is much more expensive than we thought. We have double doors and would like a keypad, so our situation may be a little different than other customers... But still. Luckily we put this in our PPIs, but we may still be a little over the allowed amount. We are ready to park in the garage again since our current garage is filling up with furniture for the new house. :)

After hubby talks to our foreman, we should have a solid timeline of expectations as we reach the final stretch. It has been fun, but we are looking forward to enjoying our home after all of the budgeting, researching, planning, re-planning, working, discussing, stressing, emails, phone calls, text messages, scheduling, etcetera. Our kids need it more than we do. <3

Roof & garage are finally done! - Day 83

I got home today to find the roof finally shingled! That means we don't have to worry about our garage getting wet anymore..... AND, since they also hung the garage drywall today, we don't have to worry about that either. They also worked on the stone wainscot. Woo hoo!
The only part that hadn't been done before today was the half of the garage affected by the Greek return. Yay for fixing this without putting up a fight!
Our beautiful garage
Check out that stone! So in love.. Our fireplace will be the same stone too.
Porch
Random drywall hung in bathroom... And my favorite window. :)
Mystery mess.
Can't wait for this mess to be over. Fireplace is getting installed Wednesday.

We should have an updated schedule today... Hopefully we are still on track to meet our 12/20 move-in!

Drywall update! - Day 82

The drywallers were here Tuesday, Wednesday, and some of Friday. They said they would be here Saturday to finish, but they never showed. All that they have left is the garage!
The pink is the insulation WH includes. The other is the insulation my hubby added. We are also going to have them blow the garage ceiling.
View from the laundry room!
From the boys' hallway... Ceilings are much higher than we thought.
View from my sunroom
The stairway looks better than I imagined!
We can't wait to see this finished with crown molding and our LED rope lights behind it!
View into master bath through closet hallway. we like that when we have the doors open, we will be able to see the front and back windows of our house!
Odd kitchen cans and our pendant lights. We think one of these cans is very off... Can you tell which one?
Loving this window addition to the main bath. This was a very affordable upgrade if you are on the fence!
Remember those sump pump problems? This is my husband's attempt to fix one of them. WH plumber only stubbed out the sump a few feet which meant all of the water it pumped out sat in the corner of our foundation and ended up back in the sump in a continuous cycle. The original black hoses that we also ran away from the house filled & froze... So this is our attempt to fix it!
