Doors, half-walls, and shingles - Day 62

Lots of little things (that up to big things) were done today . Several doors were put on and lots of framing work was completed.
From laundry to garage
Front door and sidelights!
Master porch door & new framing for wall in basement.
Fireplace we may have messed up. We will have a raised hearth. We asked for it, but don't have it in writing so we need to talk to our field manager.
Kitchen to sunroom half wall
Dining room framing - this is going to be awesome!
Our master octagonal tray ceiling!

We are finally moving at a good pace and we hope this continues! Woop woop!

Some of our open house inspiration

These were some of our favorite ideas from open houses held by Wayne Homes.
TOP: this is how our dining room is going to look when all is said and done

BOTTOM LEFT: this is how our kitchen will be connected to our sunroom. My sink will over look the sunroom similar to the one one the right side.

Our kitchen will not look like the one on the top, but it will be similar. We started with that design however! We are doing our own woodburning insert in our stone fireplace, but we want it to look like the one above. We have similar curb appeal to the house on the bottom left and will have the same den doors as the ones on the bottom left.

Our dream is becoming a reality and we are so thankful!

Stairway to... The basement - Day 59

They finished odds and ends today and still have to fix the garage lip. We told our field manager the lip was wrong as soon as they started it, yet they built it wrong anyway. Even though this was frustrating, Our FM assured us this would be fixed as of our last phone call, so that's a good thing. He is very down-to-earth and easy to work with.

In better news, We finally got our stairway to the basement!
There is a really big step-down at the bottom, so I think they built a small platform that isn't installed yet.
Bathtub sitting in my son's room. We like to think they meant to do this, but we really think that they just couldn't get it into the bathroom. :)

They built the walls over the pantry. Yay!

Our yard is so clean!

The start of our baby bulkhead around our dining room.

Next week they will be putting on shingles and hopefully more exterior work. We are hoping for doors and windows....but don't want to get ahead of ourselves. :) Also, we have a walk through with our electrician Thursday morning at 8:30 am. It is getting fun now! December 20th is our projected move in date. That would be a very Merry Christmas!

Raise the roof - Day 58

Lots of progress was made today! Roof osb was put on and tar paper was almost finished. The house officially looks like a house now!
We think the garage lip is done wrong. We have addressed this with our FM so we are waiting to hear from him.
From the sunroom looking through dining room and entryway
From the sunroom looking to office and great room
They fixed the walkout crumbling!
We almost have stairs to the basement!
At an angle.... Love our covered porch and walkout!
Side view
We are so excited! Can't wait to see what the following day & week hold!

Trusses and awesome neighbors - Day 57

It is no secret that we are blessed with amazing neighbors.... Today is just one more reason they rock. We work. They are "somewhat" retired. They sent us photos as the trusses went up today!
We think they may have made a mistake on the lip over the garage. We made it smaller to match the lip over the office. Our project manager is going to check it out tomorrow.

It rained and they left about 2:30. They also built our new fireplace and the crane dumped the old one in the dumpster.
M was concerned there wasn't enough space because they originally framed with 2x4s instead of 2x6s.
The sunroom looked pretty awesome. :)
Can we just make that a pergola?
Framing above our coat closet... The cathedral ceilings are ridiculously high!

I got home around 4:45 and the delivery truck followed me up the driveway to unload our doors.
They started our porch roof today too.
Daylight savings time wins. Tomorrow we should be under roof! :) Woo Hoo!

Nope - Day 56

Nothing today. Tomorrow they are bringing a crane to set the trusses and we should be under roof by Friday. :)

Maybe? -Day 56

We were told yesterday that the framers might come out and do some work - like fix the fireplace (paid for 2x6 construction, but built with 2x4 construction). This isn't a big deal because we caught it in time and we were assured it would be fixed. No one showed, though. So, we are hoping some work gets done today. After a phone call with our project manager yesterday morning, the plan is to finish framing by Friday. Shingles will be delivered Monday and they will start the roof. Our project manager says he is really pushing to hand the keys over to us by December 20th, which would be great for many reasons...we are crossing our fingers.
