Finally framing - Day 49

After several days of "framers will be there Thursday..." "Friday" "Monday" and no one showing up  (lots of frustration), the framers finally showed today at 7:20 this morning. My neighbor said there was a crew of five guys and they got a lot done! They were gone by 4:10 when I got home.
That's our little man happy to have "floors!"
It looks like they are getting ready to set the garage wall.
Our basement is starting to look like a basement instead of a hole!
Light through the block windows
From the driveway...

The weather is supposed to be terrible Thursday, so we are crossing our fingers we aren't affected too much.

Framers need a hot lunch too, ya know...

Lumber is delivered! Day 41

We got home to LOL - lots of lumber!

They will start framing tomorrow. We are excited to get this moving before the weather gets too bad!

Backfill, trusses and stone - Day 40

Our walkout looks more like a walkout!
We have windows.. The domestication factor has improved quickly today.

Trusses are here!
More stone than I ever want to see again... Ever. Unless they are mountains and I am in Colorado...

Waterproofing and Stone - Day 37

Today, Our basement was waterproofed. They covered the concrete with a black tar-like substance and tuff-n-dri boards.

We also got more stone delivered. This caused our four-year-old to jump for joy and scream, "THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!"
As of right now, WH will backfill on Monday and have the lumber delivered Monday/Tuesday to start framing next week. Naturally, there is a chance of rain every day so we hope it doesn't keep us from progressing!

Nothing - Day 35

Nothing happened yesterday. My hubby called our construction manager and expressed his disappointment with our walkout wall crumbling. Our manager assured us it would be fixed.

Today, they are supposed to waterproof the basement. The irony? It's supposed to rain. We shall see.

Last day of basement wall removal - Day 33

This has been the most interesting day so far.
Not only were our boys home to watch, but the wall crew had one heck of a time moving things around.

We watched from a dirt hill for awhile, but then accidents with the crane made some of their wall forms loaded on a truck tilt and slide into another truck and things...(language) got ugly. Luckily everyone was ok, although we heard quite a few expletives and bar jokes once the crane driver realized he wasn't going to bite the dust. We are happy everyone is ok. You can't tell much in this picture, but the truck on the left tilted and slid all of the forms crashing into the truck on the right, which made that truck tilt into the roll off dumpster. The crane driver called this the "worst 15 minutes of his life" and joked he wet his pants. Of course that made my kids bust up laughing and made me feel bad for being out there watching!
Wives were called, "I am going to be lates" were exchanged and they had a long day working today. We felt bad for them and were tempted to offer them some beverages of the adult kind!
All in all things seem to be moving quickly at the moment. We just hope it keeps going that way! The crew left about 6:20.
The basement sure looks better cleaned up!
Our walkout doorway in the basement!
The biggest issue with our walkout retaining wall... Crumbling! They couldn't get the forms off so they pulled it with their truck and cheered when they got it. Needless to say, we aren't cheering with the end result. Our project manager is going to hear from us this week. If it were any other wall, we wouldn't care as much...
Sump pump in front left corner
Crawl space under the sunroom that our boys have already claimed as their "secret hangout."
Spot for future window! It is coming together! Now time for backfill and waterproofing...

Starting the form removal - Day 32

Our kids woke up to a crew starting to take the basement forms off of the walls and they were so happy to be able to watch some of the action!

Everything looked pretty good. It is starting to look more like a house!
This is the start of our walkout.
We really like the brick forms!
